Holyhead Marina |
||
| Holyhead Marina IS the only marina on the west coast of Britain with the range of water and land benefits listed on the Index page. The A55 Expressway offers a dual carriageway link to the motorway network, whilst Holyhead railway station connects Intercity rail with the Irish ferries - if you get stuck in Eire or Northern Ireland, you have a ferry back to the car! As for the cruising opportunities from the Marina, the Isle of Anglesey offers safe sailing waters, picturesque anchorages and stunning views over Snowdonia, whilst the Isle of Man & Eire are only a tide (or two) away for a long weekend.

Access: The harbour is available at all states of the tide and in all weather conditions. Seas decrease within Holyhead Bay from all directions and only in strong to gale force E-NE winds does the harbour become uncomfortable. The Marina breakwaters are designed to provide complete protection from this direction. VHF: If you need assistance or wish to report a movement call on Channel 37(M). Power: Many pontoon fingers are supplied with a 240v power supply. Contact the marina staff to arrange for it to be made available to you. Water: A hose point is to be provided on each pontoon finger. Hoses are provided for each walkway and should be taken to the boat. Fuel: Red diesel will be available 24 hours per day on the Fuelling pontoon, which has in excess of 3m at LAT. Access may be restricted during lifeboat operations. Bunkering faciliies exist within the Ferry Port (by arrangement). LPG (Propane & butane) is available from the chandlery. Security: The marina is protected by 24 hour cctv, covering all marina berths and the harbour (if required). Repairs: Limited boatyard facilities are provided on site. GRP, steel, ferro and aluminium hull work: diesel & petrol engines, outboard engines, rigging, stainless steel welding and fitting, fitting out and full refits can be undertaken. Storage: Bookings may be made for the Marina to recover & launch boats from their pontoon berths for storage ashore. Space is limited and advance bookings may be necessary. The Annual marina contract carries FREE onshore shorage for three months (lift and launching is extra, and depends on the type of vessel.) Chandlers: The ‘YachtShop’ is 'open' to berth-holders 24 hours per day. Phone the number on the door if you need anything out of hours. Supplies may be ordered by phone, fax or email for delivery to your boat at the time you need it. Facilities: Individual ‘en-suites’ with shower, bath and toilet are being built on the Marina site. Showers, and heads are already available. A laundry will be available 24 hours per day. Weather forecasts and synoptic charts are posted each day and long range forecasts are available on request. Services: It is intended that provisions, restaurant, bar, and hairdressing facilities will be available on site once the Apartment complex is completed. Currently, provisions may be ordered from the Porth-y-Felin Store for delivery to the boat at a time you specify. Travel: Stena & Irish Ferries run to Eire from Holyhead port. Crossing times are 3 - 3¼ hours for the 'cruise' ferries and 1¾ hours for the HSS. Ferries go to Dublin, with the exception of the Stena HSS which berths in Dun Laoghaire. ‘Intercity’ trains run from Holyhead station. Marina staff will be pleased to organise a taxi if required for either rail or ferry services. The A55 Expressway connects Holyhead port to the mainland motorway network, the 25 miles to the Britannia Bridge (Menai Strait) taking no more than 30 minutes. |
