Tides

The tides around this part of the world can be fierce and few passages are worth considering in a yacht if it is foul. South Stack, Carmel Head & the Skerries boast Spring tides in excess of 6 knots, Caernarfon Bar has a miniumum of 5 knots and the Swelles can reach 10 knots in exceptional conditions.
The only detailed Tidal Atlas is in "Cruising Anglesey & adjoining waters", from which the Atlas for the Menai Strait has been copied.
The Admiralty provides a few days of tidal predictions
free of charge.
