Disclaimers
We live in a world where a supermarket can be sued
because an uncontrolled dog hurts its back jumping for its junk mail; where
hospital Appointment Cards contain an invitation to sue for malpractice and
every other TV advert seems to exhort viewers to sue for imagined injury.
In these circumstances, we regretfully have to make
a number of Disclaimers, because, though no self-respecting yottie would blame
others for their own mistakes, there may be some of the new breed taking up
sailing in an attempt to supplement their income!
At the same time as we publish these disclaimers, we
are noting all those minor legislative irritations which are steadily encroaching
on our lives.
